Unit 12-1
The short version

Mutelocus carries paid affiliate links. If you follow one and then create and activate a game account, Haubergson Invest s.r.o. is paid a commission by the affiliate network that operates the link. You are not charged anything extra for arriving through us, and the course works exactly the same if you ignore every link on it.

Unit 12-2
What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link that carries a code identifying the site that sent you. The network running the programme sees the code, and if you then do the thing the programme pays for, it credits the referring site. There is no cost to you and no change to what you receive at the other end.

On this site the paid action is specific: creating and activating an account. That is what the programme behind our link pays for, and we say so in the step where account creation is explained rather than hiding it in a page nobody opens.

Unit 12-3
Where the affiliate links are

There are two, and they are the only paid links on the site:

  • In step 1, at the end of the section that explains where the example game sits in the course.
  • In step 4, at the end of the section that does the same.

Both point to the website of World of Tanks, the online multiplayer tank game used as the worked example throughout the course. Each one opens in a new tab, carries the markings that tell search engines it is a paid link, and sits directly above a sentence saying it is paid. Every other outbound link on this site — the Australian government resources in particular — pays us nothing.

Unit 12-4
What the commission does not decide

It does not decide what the steps say. The cautions in step 1 about recurring charges and randomised items, the advice in step 3 to read the dormant-account clause, and the reminder in step 5 that leaving is a perfectly good outcome all cost us money rather than earning it, and they are in the course because they belong there.

It does not decide whether a product is mentioned favourably, because the course does not rank, score or recommend products at all. There are no reviews here, no star ratings, no "best of" list and no comparison table of competing games. The example game is described as an example, using only what its affiliate programme publishes, and where that source is silent the course says the vendor does not state it.

It does not decide what you should do. Every step can be completed with no spending, and the first checklist on the site says in plain words that zero is a valid answer to the budget question.

Unit 12-5
What does decide the content

Three things. First, the order a beginner actually needs: money, then hardware, then the agreement, then registration, then the months afterwards. Second, what the Australian sources say — the ACCC for consumer guarantees, the OAIC for privacy, the Australian Classification Board for classification, the eSafety Commissioner for online safety, the ACSC for account security and Scamwatch for scams. Third, what can be stated honestly: if we cannot source a claim, it is written as general guidance about the category or it is left out.

The fuller account of how the course was built and how often it is reviewed is on the About page, under the editorial method.

Unit 12-6
What we get back from the network

Commission reports: counts and amounts. They are used to check that we have been paid what we are owed. We do not ask for information identifying individual readers, and nothing in those reports lets us connect a commission to a person who read this site. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full, and the Cookie Policy explains what the destination site and the network may do on their own domains after you click.

Unit 12-7
Trademarks

All brand names on Mutelocus, World of Tanks among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Mutelocus, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.
